Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on 31st July 2026.

Our Approach

MONTY aims to provide welcoming and accessible online and in-person experiences wherever reasonably possible.

We recognise that people may have different practical access requirements relating to movement, positioning, communication, sensory comfort, energy levels or use of the website.

Where possible, MONTY will consider reasonable adjustments that help someone access and participate in the service being offered. Adjustments are considered individually and may depend on the nature of the session, participant safety, available facilities, venue restrictions and what is practical within the service.

Scope of MONTY Services

MONTY provides general movement, bodywork, sound, restorative and wellbeing-based services.

MONTY is not a specialist disability, rehabilitation, medical or psychological service and does not provide:

  • Physiotherapy or clinical rehabilitation;

  • Medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment;

  • Psychological assessment or treatment;

  • Psychotherapy or trauma therapy;

  • Mental-health crisis support;

  • Specialist care, personal assistance or clinical supervision; or

  • Services designed to manage complex medical conditions.

Reasonable adjustments are intended to improve access to an existing MONTY service. They do not turn that service into individual clinical treatment, rehabilitation or specialist support.

Although people may experience physical, emotional or general wellbeing benefits, MONTY does not promise a particular therapeutic, medical or psychological outcome.

Not every class, activity, venue or online resource will be suitable for every person. MONTY may recommend obtaining appropriate professional advice, choosing a different service or postponing participation where a request falls outside MONTY’s qualifications, insurance, facilities or safe scope of practice.

Website Accessibility

The MONTY website is built using Wix.

We aim to make the website clear and straightforward to use through:

  • Clear headings and page structures;

  • Readable text and consistent formatting;

  • Appropriate colour contrast;

  • Descriptive buttons and links;

  • Alternative text for meaningful images where possible;

  • Clear forms and instructions;

  • Keyboard-accessible features where supported;

  • Responsive layouts across common devices; and

  • Avoiding unnecessary visual movement or distraction.

The website may include Wix applications, booking systems, payment pages, video players, social-media feeds and other third-party features that are not entirely controlled by MONTY.

We cannot guarantee that every external platform or embedded feature will meet every individual accessibility requirement, but we welcome feedback about any barriers encountered.

Alternative Formats and Support

Where reasonably possible, MONTY can provide important information in another format or explain it directly.

This may include:

  • Providing information by email;

  • Supplying plain-text information;

  • Explaining booking or membership options;

  • Helping someone understand an online form;

  • Providing written information alongside audio or video content where available; or

  • Discussing practical access requirements before booking.

To request information in another format, email:

themontypractice@gmail.com

Online Memberships and Digital Content

MONTY’s online services may include recorded movement classes, live sessions, restorative practices, meditation, sound, educational content and downloadable resources.

Where reasonably possible, online content will:

  • Include clear verbal guidance;

  • Offer different movement options;

  • Encourage participants to pause, rest or adapt;

  • Avoid presenting one version as suitable for every body;

  • Explain equipment and space requirements;

  • Allow members to select content appropriate to their circumstances; and

  • Include captions, written summaries or supporting information where available.

Not every existing video or audio practice will immediately include full captions, transcripts or audio description.

Members may contact MONTY where a particular clarification or format would help them use the content.

Online Participation

Online participants are responsible for creating a safe and suitable practice space and selecting content appropriate to their circumstances.

Participants may:

  • Practise seated, standing or supported where an appropriate option is available;

  • Pause or stop a recording;

  • Take additional rest;

  • Keep their eyes open;

  • Return to natural breathing;

  • Reduce or avoid particular movements;

  • Adjust sound levels;

  • Use appropriate personal supports or equipment; or

  • Choose a different session.

Online content cannot provide the same level of individual observation, adaptation or supervision as an in-person session.

MONTY may recommend individual professional advice where someone is unsure whether a particular practice is suitable.

In-Person Classes, Workshops and Events

MONTY aims to make in-person classes, workshops and events as accessible as reasonably possible within the nature of the service and venue.

Possible adjustments may include:

  • Chair-based or supported options;

  • Alternatives to kneeling or floor-based movement;

  • Alternatives to placing weight through the wrists or knees;

  • Additional props;

  • Permission to move, rest, change position or leave;

  • Verbal guidance rather than hands-on assistance;

  • A position near an entrance or exit;

  • Additional practical information before attending;

  • Adjusting sound, lighting or scent where reasonably possible;

  • Allowing ear protection during sound sessions; and

  • Providing additional time to settle into the space.

Participants are not expected to complete every movement or remain in one position.

Please contact MONTY before attending where a particular adjustment is important to your participation.

One-to-One Sessions and Bodywork

For one-to-one movement, massage and bodywork appointments, MONTY can discuss practical requirements relating to:

  • Positioning;

  • Getting onto or off a treatment surface;

  • Pressure;

  • Draping;

  • Temperature;

  • Sensory comfort;

  • Communication preferences; and

  • Areas to avoid.

MONTY may adapt, postpone or decline an appointment where the requested support falls outside the service, qualifications, insurance or safe scope of practice.

Bodywork and one-to-one services are not physiotherapy, medical treatment, rehabilitation or psychological therapy.

Hands-On Assistance and Consent

Hands-on assistance is optional.

Participants may request:

  • Verbal guidance only;

  • To be asked before each use of touch;

  • No hands-on assistance;

  • A change in pressure or position;

  • Additional draping;

  • That a particular area is avoided;

  • A pause; or

  • That hands-on assistance or treatment stops completely.

Consent may be changed or withdrawn at any time without needing to provide a reason.

Sound, Music and Sensory Considerations

Some MONTY experiences may include sound instruments, music, vibration, low lighting, scents, oils or periods of silence.

Where relevant, this will be explained in the service information.

Participants may contact MONTY about practical considerations relating to:

  • Sound sensitivity;

  • Tinnitus;

  • Hearing;

  • Migraines;

  • Sensitivity to vibration;

  • Lighting;

  • Scents;

  • Temperature;

  • Busy or shared spaces; or

  • Proximity to other participants.

Depending on the session, possible adjustments may include:

  • Reducing sound where practical;

  • Moving further away from an instrument;

  • Using ear protection;

  • Keeping eyes open;

  • Avoiding scents;

  • Choosing another position; or

  • Leaving the session when needed.

Not every adjustment will be possible in every shared event, but MONTY will explain available options honestly.

Venues

MONTY works across independent studios, community spaces, workplaces, retreat venues and hired facilities.

Physical access may vary between venues and can include differences in:

  • Parking;

  • Steps or level access;

  • Doorways;

  • Accessible toilets;

  • Flooring;

  • Seating;

  • Heating;

  • Lighting;

  • Acoustics;

  • Changing facilities;

  • Public transport; and

  • Distance between parking and the practice space.

MONTY will provide known access information where reasonably possible.

Because many venues are operated by third parties, MONTY cannot guarantee that every location will meet every individual access requirement.

Please contact MONTY before booking where a particular venue feature is essential. We will check the available information and discuss whether a suitable adjustment or alternative may be possible.

Retreats and Collaborative Events

Retreats and collaborative events may involve independent venues, accommodation providers, caterers, guest practitioners or partner organisations.

Access arrangements may therefore depend on more than one provider.

With your knowledge and where appropriate, MONTY may communicate relevant practical requirements to a venue or collaborator where necessary to arrange support.

Only information reasonably needed for this purpose will be shared, in accordance with the MONTY Privacy Notice.

Some adjustments may depend on facilities, staffing or arrangements controlled by another provider. MONTY will make reasonable enquiries but cannot guarantee changes that are outside MONTY’s control.

Support People and Assistance Dogs

Where appropriate and agreed in advance, a participant may attend with a personal assistant, carer, interpreter or support person.

Please contact MONTY before booking so that space, venue rules, costs and practical arrangements can be confirmed.

Assistance dogs are welcomed wherever the venue and nature of the service reasonably allow. Advance notice is appreciated so that practical arrangements can be considered.

MONTY does not provide personal care, specialist supervision or individual support staff.

Sharing Access Information

You are welcome to explain any practical barrier or adjustment that would help you participate.

You do not normally need to disclose a diagnosis where the support you require can be understood without one.

Relevant health information should still be provided where it may materially affect safe participation.

Health and accessibility information will be handled in accordance with the MONTY Privacy Notice.

Providing access information does not guarantee that every requested adjustment will be possible.

MONTY will consider requests fairly, taking account of:

  • Safety;

  • The nature of the service;

  • Practicality;

  • Available resources;

  • Venue limitations;

  • MONTY’s qualifications and insurance; and

  • The needs and safety of other participants.

Where an adjustment cannot reasonably be provided, MONTY will aim to explain the limitation and, where possible, suggest another option.
